Make Your Kitchen Hobs and Ovens Shining!

Cooking is a chore, but cleaning the grime and build-up is even more tiring! So, in Ethiopia we advise you to do it every day.

You are baking your favorite dish, and the aroma that fills your home is off, confused? That is probably because of the product build-up inside your oven. You tend to have spillages, crusts, crumbs inside of the oven. You need to clean that!

We advise you to clean your kitchen hobs and your baking ovens daily or after every use. You might be surprised, but trust us with this one. On each usage, you might not notice some oil or splatter on your stovetop; the same is the case with the inside of your oven.

With regular cleaning, you save your time and energy for when you would have done it later. However, if you put it off to be done when it is extremely necessary, you might just regret it! Also, the buildup can be hard to clean, and there is a possibility you will have to scrub it rigorously.

How to go about it?

It is always sensible to read the user manual before using or doing anything with the appliance. This will save a lot of energy, and you will know what is safe and what is not. For example, if your stove is stainless steel, you would not use products that might scratch the surface. Instead, use a gentle scrubber and products that are not harsh.

What to use?

This is a question that will be best answered by trial and error. Usually, manufacturers recommend what kind of products are safe, so read the manual first. But, you need to use gentle products. Ensure the products are not chemicals or release fumes because it is also a health hazard.

The best thing is using natural ingredients. This will help you to create a safe kitchen. However, the chemicals can be dangerous for health and inflammable. So, check the ingredients next time you buy a readymade cleaner.

  • Baking soda and vinegar on the stove hobs and inside the oven. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe it clean to reveal a shiny new appliance.
  • White vinegar with hot water. Mix the two and spray all over your stovetop and oven. Let it sit for an hour or so, and then wipe it clean. No scrubbing required!
  • Soap and hot water. You can also add detergent instead. This will leave the appliance even smelling fresh.

Self-cleaning:

Some appliances have the option of self-cleaning. However, this will make the oven turn on the highest heat, so we suggest you be careful. Later, when the oven is cool enough, you will just have to clean the crusts or the ashes!
